VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO was much appreciated by the poet and wine enthusiast Redi who said of it "Of all the wines it is the king". The wine was well known in medieval times and was the favourite of the Farnese Pope Paolo III who obtained it direct from Montepulciano to stock his cellars. After many years the wine lost its notoriety and the centuries old production was almost abandoned. It was only at the end of the last century that local farmers recommenced production. |

VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO until recent times was made in small quantities by the wealthier agricultural poliziam families. It was reserved for grand occasions and made only for private, non commercial consumption. The ST AGNESE ESTATE was the first to revive the antique production techniques, and commence commercial production. Lt became known in Italy and abroad, receiving enthusiastic praise that continues to this day. Following a ngorous enquùy by specialised technicians on unadulterated Ita]ian wines published in the weekly magazine ‘OGGI’, Gr. Uff. Adamo Fanetti, father Cav. Giuseppe tide holder of the St Agnese Estate has been ~dely recognized as the "legitimate owner of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano". |
