Montepulciano lies 15 minutes from the Autosole A1 highway exits of
Chiusi and Valdichiana. Italy’s most beautiful towns, Rome, Florence, Siena and Perugia can easily be reached from
Montepulciano both by train and by car.
Other important towns of touristic interest harmoniously surround “Podere Monti” such as
Pienza, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni, San Casciano Bagni, and other tiny but lovely villages.
Montepulciano’s landscape and scenery are among the most green you can find. Here life is calm and serene, offering infinite and variegated places to relax: nature dominates all other aspects of reality. The softly undulating hills can be traversed on foot, by bicycle, and on horseback, satisfying the eye and calming the soul, where “it is
sweet to drown”. The crops, still cultivated using traditional methods and thus both healthy and tasty, are worth admiring and trying; over the plains and hills reign the vineyards, from which flows the famous Nobile wine, whose numerous producers compete for first place in terms of quality: the only difficulty lies in the choice.
There are numerous antique wineries throughout Montepulciano’s historical centre and in the surrounding countryside as well, in elegant villas and country houses.
Olive oil is another exquisite local product, produced at times by centuries-old olive trees; with their unique almost human branch formations and their distinctive “olive-green” colour, they endow the landscape with a note of intense emotion.
Montepulciano's typical cuisine, which draws on traditional dishes such as the delicious “pici”, are served in the various taverns. Numerous precious artistic testimonials, in which
Montepulciano abounds, bear witness to its Etruscan, medieval and baroque past.
The rural architectural constitutes another heritage which lives in the countryside in perfect harmony with nature, mirroring its simplicity but also its material solidity. It seems yet another product of this well cultivated land where the various elements design their patterns on the landscape.
The “Podere Monti”, an area of 450 square metres, has recently been restored, taking care t o use antique construction techniques and reuse its original materials. For our guests there are: two suites with a bedroom, living room and bathroom; five double rooms with bathrooms; a reading room with fireplace; a large reception hall; a kitchen; one dining room inside and one outside; a laundry room; a swimming pool; a natural lake and a large garden bordered by woods and olive
groves.
It is located at the base of “monte Cappuccini”, which together with “monte Totona” and the hills of Montepulciano separate the valleys of
Valdichiana and Val d’Orcia.
Pathways branch off from Podere Monti which can be traversed on foot or bicycle.
The “Terme di Montepulciano” hot springs can be reached on foot, offering a vast range of services and innovative programs for a complete physical regeneration, with personalised treatments for the face and body.
There are also tennis courts (500 metres distant), a horse riding ground (1 kilometre distant), and a golf course (30 minutes away).
