Agriturismo

between the Vino Nobile and the Brunello

Orcia Valley

This is the least populated area in the southern part of the province of Siena, and is located between the hills of Montepulciano and Montalcino, and the Monte Amiata.

Plains alternated with hills and clay gullies (the so-called “crete”) host the river Orcia.

Impressive is the contrast between the arid gullies and the multicolored wheat and sunflowers fields.

The hills, which are dotted with enchanting little medieval villages, are surrounded by small and large farms.

In this area you can also find large old rural structures, which are able to accommodate groups as well.

You can hike along the river Orcia or walk steep paths leading to the ancient fortresses which mark the Via Francigena, a road which used to be the most important route to the Alps and to France in the Roman era.

You will find yourself totally immersed in an enchanted medieval atmosphere and dream of ancient knights who used to ride the same paths.
